There is Purpose in the Settling
Retrospectively, now knowing my genius from The Six Types of Working Genius, I see more clearly the purpose hidden within the chapter of settling - it is a significant time of discovery. Discovering those natural gifts and talents showing up to impact others. The most vivid memory of the beginnings of my settling chapter was around eight years old in Macon, MO. It was a small clearing in some woods near my home. There I would lay on my back and ask a thousand questions about how everything got here, why did I matter to the world, what was I supposed to do with my life, etc. Looking back now, it was the beginning of my Wonder being uncovered and the beginning of my experience of learning to master it.

Have you taken the working genius assessment? If not, I strongly recommend you take it. If yes, consider a few things:
Did you learn anything new about yourself?
What was surprising to you?
Was there anything you disagreed with?
Do you have someone who really knows you that you can share the results with and get their feedback on the results? If not, I would recommend you leveraging the many resources The Table Group has to dive deeper into your results.
Thinking about your natural gifts and skills, when reflecting back on your life, where and how did you see them first start showing up?
Now that you see how those showed up early in your life, reflect back on your entire working career and ask yourself where did I see those show up? Where did I feel a heightened sense of awareness and/or energy? What specific tasks, projects, initiatives give you fulfillment? What was it about them that gave you that sense of fulfillment?
I would encourage you to do the same exercise for the things that drain you of energy and feel unfulfilling to you. Are you doing things because that is what you think is expected/needed?
