What’s Changed?

Things are going to look a little different moving forward.

Leadership is something that has always mattered to me. My leaders and I talk about it constantly, trying to progressively cultivate our own leadership not just to get things done, but to help others uncover their highest potential.

These conversations have sparked tremendous personal growth in my life. I normally haven’t posted content like this, but I want others seeking to better understand leadership to have an outlet for engaging in these vital conversations. To know there are others wrestling with the ideas they read in books, what they experience in their life and how they demonstrate those ideas in their lives. My hope is to use this platform to foster conversations to help us all become well-rooted people and together learn to stay rooted.

I feel these conversations are more natural during the normal rhythms of life, and typically face to face formats. But at the encouragement of a few folks whose opinions I hold in high regard, I’m going to take a step out and begin to share ideas, and ask questions, that have impacted my life and others.

Why Now?

Our journey to become well-rooted leaders is developed over long stretches of time. Our view of the journey is like a HD video camera while others see it through polaroid snapshots. We see and experience every movement of the story where others only see moments in a still frame. Myself and some friends (who will be introduced later) have a passion to see the marketplace filled with well-rooted leaders who cultivate other well-rooted leaders.

In this effort you’ll see a shift in the content and the frequency shared. You might ask why the change? Why now? Did something happen to prompt this? Nothing has happened and everything has happened. It’s actually less about something happening and more about a sense of kairos - the Greeks used this word to describe a critical, right or even divine moment. Regardless of how you view it, it feels like that moment.

The Message Didn’t Change - The Messenger Did

There is a famous quote I’ve held closely for decades - “The message didn’t change, but the messenger did.” In the center of much of what you will read and engage with is the culmination of over 20 years in various leadership roles. Yet, I’ve realized on my journey to be a well | rooted leader, it’s really been 46 years in the making and a dedicated effort to begin formalizing those lessons has happened during the past couple years.

The hope of this is to resource, equip and inspire leaders in their journey as what it means to be well-rooted goes more deeply in our own lives. At the very least it has been crystalizing for us to nail down how we have been shaped by the past, pursuing in the present and the future we are inspired to see.

Stay Rooted ~
